Podcast from SirsiDynix

I listened to a podcast from SirsiDynix about social bookmarking. It has helped me understand a little better what that is. If I understand correctly, you can get your favorites from any computer by subscribing to a social bookmark manager. Another thing that I thought was pretty neat is that when you add a site to your bookmark, you can send it to someone else and they can look at it and decide if they want to keep it in their bookmarks too. Ex.: If I found a site that I really thought a coworker could use (like in the reference or children's room) I could send it to them without it automatically being added to their bookmarks.

Great Idea for Library Campaign!

I think this should be the next advertisement for our campaign.

This is from the Shifted Librarian. To really understand the picture read the blog:

She wrote about an advertisment that the Wyoming Libraries used. Who will volunteer to pose for the sillouette for Greenwood Library's mudflaps? Here's the idea:

Update on the SLE

First off, thanks to Marf for pointing out to me what was right in front of my eyes! She told me how to delete a post.

Have you guys seen the golibrary unit at the librarianinblack blog? It is so cool! It is like vending machine for books.

I've looked at several of the blogs Prudence has linked to the Library 2.0 blog and that was what caught my eye. It is probably a little much for little Greenwood, but it would be GREAT for larger cities.

I have looked at SirsiDynix's website. I don't see any online classes that apply to me, but I plan to read an article in Upstream about engaging the community when I get a minute. I like their "word to the wise" section.

I have only looked at the wiki thingy for a second so I don't really get it. I will have to spend a little time with it to understand it.

The newsletters with pop thing looks really neat. I will definitely look into that.

I can't wait to spend some time with the file conversion at Zamzar.com. I can't figure out how to get files off my MP3 onto disk. I hope they will explain that. I have things I have recorded off the radio that I would like to put on disk. I really don't know if that is even possible. I will see.

That is as far as I have gotten with this SLE to date. More Later!
